DAY 1

Contemporary Bone Grafting in Implant Dentistry

Dr Hassan Maghaireh

With over a decade of clinical teaching and advocacy for a personalised approach to bone regeneration, this lecture delves into cutting-edge techniques and strategies in implant dentistry, emphasising that "one size does not fit all."

In Part 1, Intelligent Vertical & Horizontal Bone Grafting in Implant Dentistry: Modern Concepts, the lecture covers the latest techniques to improve outcomes, including digitally planned allograft blocks, Magnesium-based resorbable membranes, and Hyaluronic-enhanced graft materials. Bone grafting plays a vital role in modern implantology, especially in cases with severe bone loss. Key topics include material selection, biologics, and advanced surgical protocols to support bone regeneration and implant stability. The speaker will share clinical insights on patient selection, risk management, and achieving predictable, aesthetic results in various implant cases.

Part 2, Complications of Bone Grafting in Dental Implantology: Biology & Evidence-Based Approaches to Minimise the RISK, focuses on the biological rationale and clinical evidence for preventing and managing complications in bone augmentation. With bone grafting being a technique-sensitive procedure, this session will explore common complications in both hard and soft tissue handling, while offering biology-driven and evidence-based solutions to reduce patient risk and enhance surgical outcomes.

The lecture offers a unique blend of clinical experience, academic research, and practical innovation, making it essential for clinicians looking to elevate their skills in bone grafting and implant surgery.

Dr Hassan Maghaireh

Associate Professor in Oral Surgery & Implant Dentistry, Ulster University – Birmingham; ITI Fellow | Head of Scientific Committee, BAIRD

Dr Hassan Maghaireh is an Associate Professor at the College of Medicine & Dentistry – Ulster University, Birmingham, and Head of the Scientific Committee at the British Academy of Implant & Restorative Dentistry (BAIRD). A Fellow and accredited speaker for the International Team for Implantology (ITI), he is widely respected for his evidence-based approach to implant dentistry.

Dr Maghaireh holds advanced surgical training credentials from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh), the University of Manchester, and San Raffaele University (Milan). He is a published author in peer-reviewed journals and co-author of Building Better Bone (Quintessence).

When not teaching or lecturing internationally, he leads the implant team at Leeds Dental Implants & Cosmetic Clinic, handling complex full-arch, sinus grafting, and advanced bone augmentation cases.

The Digital Workflow Supporting the Biology, Aesthetic and Function. A Predictable Instantaneous Implant Treatment

Dr Laurent Sers

This lecture explores the transformative role of digital technology in aesthetic implantology, emphasizing how digital tools—such as digital wax-ups, guided surgery, and CAD/CAM systems - can enhance precision, predictability, and patient outcomes. While these technologies streamline workflows and improve efficiency, their application must remain rooted in biological principles, functional demands, and aesthetic goals.

Attendees will be introduced to various guided-surgery concepts and their role in accurately transferring virtual prosthetic plans into the clinical setting. The lecture will also outline how to anticipate biological and aesthetic responses at every stage of treatment—from planning through to the final prosthetic restoration.

By addressing both potential complications and their solutions, this session equips clinicians with a comprehensive understanding of the digital implant workflow for safer, more predictable, and long-lasting aesthetic outcomes.

Key Learning Points:

  • Understand the full scope and benefits of the digital workflow in implant dentistry.

  • Learn the advantages and protocols of guided surgery.

  • Gain an overview of how to apply digital planning in clinical practice.

  • Acquire insight into each element of the digital implant treatment chain.

Dr Laurent Sers

He is also a member of the Association Française d’Implantologie and the International Congress of Oral Implantology.

Split-Block Technique: Where are the Limits?

Dr Natalja Kull

Successful dental implantation often requires effective alveolar ridge augmentation. While autologous bone remains the gold standard, it frequently competes with the use of modern bone graft materials. This lecture focuses on the application of the Khoury technique across various clinical scenarios and provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the Biological Bone Augmentation (BBA) concept. Through clinical cases and evidence-based insights, attendees will gain knowledge to enhance decision-making and surgical outcomes in ridge augmentation procedures.

Dr Natalja Kull
Natalja is a dentist specializing in oral surgery and implantology. She focuses on complex bone and soft tissue reconstruction. She graduated from the University of Tartu in 2013 and completed the Master of Oral Surgery and Implantology (MSc) program at Danube University Krems in 2018. Dr Kull studied biological bone augmentation under Prof Khoury in Olsberg and Dr Zastrow in Heidelberg. Since 2016, she has been passionately dedicated to specializing in bone augmentation exclusively using autologeous bone. Since 2019, she has been an active member and co-instructor of the International BBA Academy.

DAY 2

Hands-ons by Dr Hassan Maghaireh

Hands-on 1 - 9.30 - 13.00 Socket Grafting Unlocked: A Step by Step Guide to Overcome Common Mistakes

The Socket Grafting Unlocked workshop offers implant dentists a comprehensive, hands-on experience focused on mastering socket grafting techniques using pig heads. This step-by-step workshop is designed to address and overcome common mistakes encountered in socket grafting at clinical practice. Participants will gain practical skills in atraumatic extraction, flap management, tunnelling technique , graft material selection, and proper membrane placement, suturing and stabilisation. Emphasis will be placed on achieving predictable bone regeneration, optimizing implant site preservation, and preventing complications. Through direct application on pig heads, attendees will refine their surgical proficiency and leave with confidence in performing successful socket grafting procedures.

Hands-on 2 - 14.30 - 17.30 NOVAMag Shield Technique for Immediate Placement

The NOVAMag Shield Technique for Immediate Implant Placement workshop offers implant dentists a hands-on experience in performing minimally invasive implant surgery using pig heads. This course focuses on the innovative NOVAMag membrane (A resorbable, rigid membrane made of Mg), demonstrating how it enhances immediate implant placement by promoting optimal bone regeneration without the need for large flaps even in cases with labial bone plate loss. Participants will learn step-by-step techniques for precise implant positioning, membrane handling, and socket sealing, expanding their treatment indications while preserving soft tissue integrity. Through practical application, attendees will gain the skills and confidence to achieve predictable, aesthetic, and stable results with less invasive surgical protocols.
